Surprise teen leaders show judges their skills
You can start leadership development at a very young age. This case in Surprise, Arizona just goes to show it. The students staged a community project that they thought would benefit the city. For children, this helps teach them responsibility and compassion for their peers and their community.
It’s a good thing to give children the change to express these kinds of skills early in life. Leadership training will become more beneficial the earlier it is taught to students, these children will most likely have a leg up on competition in the future.
The concept has been around for awhile, but never to this kind of magnitude. Having these specific programs for children allow public service to become ingrained in them at a much earlier age. Because of this they may be more eager in the future to take on the duty of a public servant.
Programs like this also allow children to see just how much of a difference they can make in the communities that they live in. However small, community service of this kind is easy to recognize. The students will also be recognized for their achievement at this year’s graduation ceremony.
Recognition is key for students to undertake something like this. Most kids would be eager to put something like this on their resume. The earlier you beef up your resume the better. Because it is then easier to get into the college of your choice. Also, the way community service makes children feel is another great reason to participate in a leadership program. The community service plus the bonds they will form with other participants is reason enough to get involved.
