Sports and Martial Arts in Thailand

Thai is the official language spoken here and almost 95% of the residents practice the national religion of Buddhism. After World War II, Christians tried converting Thailand when they sent missionaries to this country. In fact, in 1952, Harold Reeves was the first Southern Baptist missionary sent here. Thai people, as are Asians in general, are very respectful of the elderly and honor them greatly. Muay Thai is the national sport, it is Thai boxing a martial art form using kicks and punches and elbow and knee jabs. Thailand has won Olympic medals for this boxing sport.
There is much to see and do in Thailand. The architecture in the stunning temples, palaces and other buildings are a wonder to observe. The ancient blending in with the modern. Many festivals are held during the year, throughout Thailand, such as the Elephant Round Up, The Rocket Festival and the Phi Ta Khon Festival. Nightlife is plentiful and boisterous; visit the many nightclubs and bars with their vibrant music and dancing, the brilliant colors. There are sandy beaches and water sports. Stroll through the lush gardens soaking up the beauty of the flowers, observe the birds and butterflies, visit the historic museums, check out the unique shops and markets, entwining the trendy with the traditional. And Thailand luxury hotels are an enjoyable experience and an opportunity to allow yourself to be pampered as you partake of the many amenities offered. And one must never ignore the fabulous cuisine found in Thailand. With the fresh seafood, vegetables and herbs used, you will find the entrees hot and spicy, sweet and sour, superb and satisfying. Thailand, a place to see, do and long remember.
