Okay, I just returned home from a Super Bowl party, I know, I and a million other people, right? Anyway, this was a mellow, as mellow as a Super Bowl can be, party and it only included a few family and friends. It was also my brother’s birthday so we incorporated his celebration into the whole event. Meanwhile, the most significant thing about today for me was that I was attending a Super Bowl party and was the only New Orleans fan in the house. And I am not exaggerating or kidding. The pre-game party was fun and we had a lot food like sandwiches, pizza and chips and stuff. We also played some Texas Hold’em, which is a popular game in my family. In fact, I can honestly say I grew up playing cards and have thought about trying my hand professionally, but it’s really just been a great casual and standard for fun only game with me. Who knows, though, maybe one day. Of course though I won’t if you base my professional potential on this afternoon, but I had a lot of bad beats, you know?

Anyway, so we’re playing cards, eating food and I’m losing money and the Colts are favored for the game. I was having fun but things didn’t look good for me. And then once the game started, the Colts seemed to be outplaying the Saints a bit though fortunately the score stayed close. It was actually a pretty tame Super Bowl. There wasn’t any brawling or major controversies and there also relatively few penalties. And everyone there was having a great time until the Saints took the lead and then things got interesting, for me anyway. And what was incredible was the interceptions that Manning threw toward the end of the game. It was an unfortunate way to seal the deal, but still, it got the job done. And the New Orleans Saints won the Super Bowl for the first time. I couldn’t celebrate until I got home and called my friend in Tucson, but dang, that was a nice victory. And I’m sure there were plenty of hotel room parties following the game today.

Belgian tennis star and former number player, Justine Henin is back for the upcoming Australian Open Tennis Championship Tournament. Last year she claimed she was quitting tennis for good, which would have quite a loss to the sport. At the times she quit and retired for the quiet life, she was ranked in the number one position worldwide. She has, after all, won the gland slam 7 times, forty-one Women’s Tennis Association Tour, about more than twenty million bucks in money for her wins and accomplishments. Perhaps such accomplishments are all the more surprising considering her small size and weight.

She actually came back in September when she made the formal announcement that she would be returning to prepare for the Australian Open in 2010. Henin believes her time off from tennis has actually been good for and improved her game, though she has been fiercely preparing for the tournament that will be held at Brisbane International.

Part of the reason she feels that she is better is that she has matured during her time off from tennis. The tennis world can be a very exclusive one, and not as large as say the world of basketball or football, American and British versions. Getting out of the world of tennis actually was quite refreshing and renewed her enthusiasm for the sport. Henin knows it will take some time to get back to her peak performance abilities and level, but she doesn’t mind. It’s all a part of the journey for her.

She is famous for her one-handed backhand, which John McEnroe commented on as being the best he had ever seen in men’s or women’s tennis, and being a former top professional tennis player himself, is no small compliment. Her speed and agility made her famous too, along with her ability to stay tough during difficult games; she never let an opponent psych her out. And that’s the kind of ability you never lose and that will help her during the tournament.

If the daily stresses of life are enough to bring most of us home with painful muscles and sore joints, think about the professional and amateur athletes and what they go through on an hourly basis during training season. Years ago I attended a party for the Phoenix Cardinals. This involved many people dressed up in their afternoon party wear, while the guys on the team had a two hour practice in the distance. After the “show” was over the members of the team came over to sign autographs and speak with their fans. When questioned as to what he was planning to do next, wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald stated he was going for a long soak in the hot tub.

Along with the simple relaxation one will find when soaking in a hot tub found at choosehottubsdirect.com, the healing properties of water have been known about for centuries. Modernmedicine is also recently become well aware of this, and the extra added whirlpool of jets have helped many athletes over the years, not only find relief from soreness, but in the healing of their sports related injuries as well. What the medical community is now supporting, trainers have utilized these soaks on their players for a very long time.

For the athletes, the hot water reduced the pain and promoted circulation. Increasing blood flow to injured areas of the body will speed up the healing process. Now not only has the world of scientific method supported this, they have begun to use this hydrotherapy for other physical and mental ailments as well. In some cases, diabetics experienced a decrease in blood sugar levels by having nightly soaks. Those who have suffered the physical effects of a stroke will fine relief, will find their “normal” sensations returning to them as they sit in a hot tub. And many of the mental afflictions suffered by people today such as depression, anxiety, and sleep disorders are positively affected by warm water sits. Hot tubs are not just for relaxing anymore, although that is an extra added bonus.

The US Open is a grand slam tennis tournament that takes place in Flushing, New York each year. It traditionally has the biggest pay out in professional tennis, a purse of $1.5 million dollars to the winners on both the men’s and women’s side. Tennis is also one of the only sports that the men and women athletes receive equal prize money. Needless to say US Open tennis is quite lucrative!

The US Open is only forty years old, relatively young in the world of tennis. Wimbledon started in the 1800s. 2008 was the 40th anniversary of the US Open. This year the tournament enters its 41st year. The US Open is a relatively new event in the world of tennis, but it has been around forever, over 100 years when it used to be called the U.S. Championships. Only in the last forty years has it been the tournament we know today.

The first winner of the US Open was Arthur Ashe, whose name now graces the stadium where the finals are played each year. He won the first title in 1968. Ashe was considered an amateur at the time of his win, so he was unable to collect the money for winning, at that time it was $14,000, the most for any tennis tournament. Instead, Ashe only collected $20 per diem. He was also the first African American to ever win a men’s singles title at tennis Grand Slam Championship.

In 1975, the US Open was the debut of the first night tennis game. This was also the first year of three that the US Open was played on a clay court, just like the French Open. The open is now played on a hard court.

The US Open was originally played at the West Side Tennis Club in Forest Hills, New York. It was moved to the USTA national tennis center in Flushing Meadows, New York in 1978.

My sister and I bought Sports Tickets to the Sox game for Sunday. We got off the Orange Line at Back Bay so we could catch a quick beer. That’s when we noticed a finish line for the Boston Marathon was right in front of us. We noticed people anxiously waiting in line, apparently to get their Marathon race packets. When they did, they proudly put on their marathon t-shirt and have friends or family members take photos of them before the Marathon.

My sister and I felt like we too were a part of all the excitement these Marathoners were exhibiting. The area of the street where the finish line was located blockade off the traffic. I watched one Marathon guy standing on the painted finish line, he was sandwiched between the grandstands and the crowd barriers with his hands waving in the air while his girlfriend or wife took pictures of him. He even made a pose like he had just crossed the finish line after completing the race. He was so excited, brimming really. I wanted to go over to the finish line myself and have me sister take my photo as I would make a pose that I just completed the Boston Marathon.

My sister felt the same as me, we wanted to somehow feel apart of the Boston Marathon. We forgot about getting a beer, because all the bars were packed with runners and all the ralliers. We could hear laughter being caught by the breeze and we could tangibly feel the excitement for what was about to happen as we past each bar. My sister and I just looked at each other and made a running dash to Fenway. We were laughing when we both at the same time hummed the theme to Chariots of Fire. We laughed so hard, we had to stop and catch our breath. By the time we caught our breath, it was time to now get excited with the Sox!

With the first tournament dating back more than a century ago, Wimbledon has long since been the international proving ground for lawn tennis excellence. Founded and organized by the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, a private club based at Wimbledon in London, Wimbledon has hosted some of the sport’s most talented players including Bjorn Borg, John McEnroe, Chris Evert, Billie-Jean King and Martina Navratilova.

This year’s Wimbledon tennis tournament will take place at the 87-year-old Centre Court which now sports a new retractable roof and its surrounding courts. Prior to Wimbledon’s kick-off on June 22nd, the club will be holding a Centre Court Celebration on Sunday May 17th where several tennis greats such as Andre Agassi, Stefanie Graf, Tim Henman and Kim Clijsters will be the first to play under the new roof.

Growing on the success of each preceding year, Wimbledon recently announced the hosting of the first women’s wheelchair doubles tournament. The decision to add the tournament was reached after the 2005 success of its male tournament counterpart.

While playing at Wimbledon is about tennis excellence, success and honor, it is also about reputation, cash prizes and celebrity. Qualifying for the event, which is hosted from June 22 to July 5, 2009, will be determined during the 2009 Qualifying matches held a week prior to the championships at the Bank of England Sports Club.

The 2009 Wimbledon tournament brims with excitement as this season’s tennis hopefuls compete for excellence in this highly challenging and lucrative sport.

Rafael Nadal has dominated the pro tennis circuit this season by winning yet another French Open, followed by the Wimbledon. The intense rivalry between Nadal and world ranked number one Roger Federer has led to history-making matches in the past and the 2008 season is no different.

It will be interesting to see who wins the U.S. Open tennis tournament. The U.S. Open tennis championship coverage will no doubt feature highlights of Federer and Nadal. But this year’s Olympics might show other winners.

World ranked number three, Novak Djokovic, is destined to shine as he represents his home country of Serbia. He gets lost in the shuffle as all of the media attention points to the Federer-Nadal rivalry. He might even surprise everyone and win the U.S. Open.

The French Open schedule is set for what sex and type of match is when but the players will not know how those brackets are to be filled until well into the tournament. Last year in the men’s singles, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer fought it out with Nadal winning again.

But the world of tennis is always interesting. If Roger never wins the French Open, he will not have a career Grand Slam. Being the French Open tennis winner is what really matters to him. He wants to be able to retire with few regrets and if he doesn’t win this at least once, he’ll always regret it.

Really though, Roger has had an amazing career and he has been ranked number one for something like 223 straight weeks. He has won Wimbledon four times and the other two tournaments at least once. I wonder if he has ever competed in the Olympics and if so, did he win a metal?

Tennis season is upon us and I cannot wait for the Grand Slam tournaments. I love all of them but the French Open is my favorite. Whenever I miss a match, which I inevitably do, I catch up with French Open tennis tournament results and I pay attention.

I like the Roland Garros because the court is clay, and I think that the top athlete will win. Clay slows the ball down which really messes with some of the ability of the athletes. A few a great of clay and terrible on grass and vise versa.

Either way, talent is displayed and the winner is dominant. The men’s and women’s singles winners for the past 3 years are trying to defend their trophies with four consecutive wins.

I love to watch sports. I watch them on the TV and on the Internet. I watch old sports events on You Tube and other video sources. But mainly I like to watch live sports. There is nothing better than being part of a large crowd all baying for your team.

I go online to find sports tickets. This is especially true if I am looking for sold out sports tickets. In the past I have found sold out football tickets and sold out golf tickets online. They are really easy to buy and offer very fast delivery. Its a great place to find tickets that are sold out and unavailable.

I travel long distances to watch the best sports events. I know its expensive and I could just as easily watch them on TV – but for me I need to be there, see my heroes in action, and enjoy the atmosphere of the crowd. Thats why I will continue to travel around to sports events that attract my attention. You cannot beat it!!
